A school of champions.
At the small-school level, it's hard to top Bradshaw Christian across the board in athletics, with the gym walls quickly filling up with blue Sac-Joaquin Section banners.
On Monday, the Pride beat Mariposa County 10-2 to win the program's second Division VI title since 2009 in a rematch of last season's finale. Mariposa won a year ago 4-3 to win the program's third crown since 2008.
Ace Austin Ragsdale struck out 11 in tossing a five hitter, and Zach Rogers drove in two as the Pride won the 17th section title in the school's eight-year varsity existence. Also this academic year, the Lady Pride won titles in basketball and soccer, all under athletic director Mike Ruble, also the girls basketball coach.
Also driving in runs for the Pride on Monday were Grant Heisinger, Seth Vandergrift, Josh Criswell, Grant Dragmire and Kyle Betts.
The Pride stole 12 bases in 13 attempts, three by Heisinger, who also scored two runs.
Another Pride highlight this season was beating D-I North champion Elk Grove 5-1 on a Ragsdale gem. Coach Drew Rickert has said that winning never gets old. He should know. He's won titles as the football coach, too.
