Ponderosa's Pereira and Jesuit team win Masters golf titles

Ponderosa's Corey Pereira shot a four-under 68 to take medalist honors and Jesuit won the team championship with a seven-over 367 at today's CIF Sac-Joaquin Section boys Masters golf championships at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

Woodcreek's Bryce Johnson and Christian Brothers' Andrej Bevins joined Pereira in qualifying as individuals for the CIF Northern California Regional championships next Monday at Diablo Grande in Patterson. Both shot 70s.

Austen Sandoval and Mark Cobey led the way with 71s for Jesuit. Chad Kubes shot a 74, Connor Bell a 75 and Steven Griggs a 76 for the Marauders, who also won the D-I North section title.

Oak Ridge (385) placed second and Del Oro (386) took third to also advance to the NorCal playoffs. Charlie Cameron led Oak Ridge with a 72. Justin Raskin was Del Oro's top individual with a 72.

Granite Bay, the defending Masters and CIF State champions, finished fourth with a 387.

D-II section champion Christian Brothers was fifth with a 391 and Oakmont sixth with a 396.

East Union's Will Brink won a playoff with Turlock's Teo Chiesa for the final NorCal individual berth. Both shot 71s.
