Sheldon's Allen makes Cal-Hi All-State elite first team

Sheldon High School senior Dakarai Allen was named to Cal-Hi Sports' 35th annual boys all-state elite basketball first team today.

The 6-foot-5 senior, The Bee's Player of the Year and a key contributor since his freshman season, helped the Huskies win an unprecedented four consecutive D-I Sac-Joaquin Section titles.

The San Diego State signee joins McDonald's All-Americans Aaron Gordon of Archbishop Mitty of San Jose, Salesian of Richmond's Jabari Bird, Deer Valley of Antioch's Marcus Lee and St. John Bosco of Bellflower's Issac Hamilton on the elite first team.

Also named to the top squad were junior standouts Stanley Johnson of Mater Dei of Santa Ana and Jordan McLaughlin of Etiwanda and seniors Jordan Bell and Roschon Prince of Long Beach Poly and London Perrantes of Crespi of Encino.

Sheldon senior guard D'Erryl Williams made second team elite and Pleasant Grove senior guard Malik Thames third team elite.

Allen, Williams and Thames were named to the all-state D-I first team and Sheldon's Darin Johnson and Pleasant Grove's Cole Nordquist made the second team.

Antelope's Gabe Bealer and Grant's De'Sean Parsons made the D-II first team; Casa Roble's Eric Stuteville the D-III second team; and Capital Christian's Nifae Lealao the D-V second team.

Sacramento's Devin Young made the 10-player all-state freshman team.
