Track standouts Dorner, Ankhelyi to receive diplomas tonight

The Folsom Cordova Board of Trustees tonight will confer high school diplomas to two stellar athletes who had to skip their graduation ceremonies because they competed in last weekend's CIF Strate Track and Field Championships in Clovis.

Cordova's Nia Dorner, who won the girls 400 title, and Vista del Lago's Madeleine Ankhelyi, who finished sixth in the girls 3,200 run, will be honored during the special ceremony.

"They were representing the best of our district (at the championship) and while they missed their initial graduation ceremony, we are pleased to honor them in this way," said Debbie Bettencourt, district superintendent, in a press release.

Both also stellar students, Dorner will attend Texas and Ankhelyi Harvard.
