Former Sheldon standout and Cal graduate Lindsey Ziegenhirt and former Sutter High and Oregon star Jessica Moore are among 18 players selected to the USA Softball Women's National Team.
Moore, a pitcher who graduated from Oregon on Sunday, was the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year and a first team All-American with a 27-6 record and 1.71 ERA in leading the Ducks to their first conference championship. She finished her Ducks career with 100 wins and 915 strikeouts in 903 innings.
Ziegenhirt, a catcher, had 17 home runs and 54 RBIs for Cal this season and was an All-Pac-12 second team and NFCA All-Pacific Region first team selection. She also was the Pac-12 Softball Scholar Athlete of the Year, having maintained a 3.77 grade-point average during her Cal career.
She finishes fourth in career home runs with 42 and fifth in RBIs with 151 for the Golden Bears.
Both will compete for the USA in the World Cup of Softball July 11-14 in Oklahoma City; the Canadian Open July 16-22 in Surrey, B.C.; and the International Women's World Championship/Pan American Games qualifier Aug. 5-18 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
