.Christian Brothers beat Vista del Lago, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III volleyball championship on Thursday night at UC Davis.
It was the eighth title for the Falcons.
Long time CBS head coach Diane Heine reflected on the win compared to the rest with high regards.
"They're all so different and all so special," Heine said. "But this one sits right up there. I'm really proud of the girls."
Led by seniors who signed letters of intent last week in Jaymee-Lee Bulda (Boise State) and Chelsie Valine (Sonoma State) CBS won the program's first title since winning five consecutive D-IV title from 2005-09.
Heine credits the return of senior Iris Anderson, who missed her junior year with a knee injury, to the team's success.
"She really fit that piece to the puzzle," Heine said. "She completed us."
Added Anderson: "This is huge. It was hard sitting out a year. Coming back and getting the banner, that's something I can cherish."
D-II: Led by a senior-heavy rotation, including college-bound Bethany Mandon (Point Loma Nazarene) and Jolie Meade (Montana State), Rocklin beat Vintage of Napa 25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23 for the championship.
This is the Thunder's third section title and first since 2010 in a match that lasted until 11:30 p.m.
D-IV: Sonora beat Hilmar in five sets for Wildcats' first section title.
D-V: Vacaville Christian defeated rival Bradshaw Christian in straight sets.
D-VI: Turlock Christian won a second consecutive title with a 3-1 victory over Stone Ridge Christian of Merced.
