The Sacramento-based Buffalo Babes running team won three national team titles and two individual championships at the USATF National Junior Olympics cross country championships on Saturday in San Antonio.
Famous for wearing bright pink-colored singlets in races, the Buffalo Babes won girls team titles at the 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18 levels.
Former Oakmont standout Karlie Garcia won the girls 17-18 individual championship in dominating fashion with a time of 17 minutes, 36 seconds over the 5,000-meter course.
Garcia, who is the process of transferring from Ole Miss to Pacific, finished 62 seconds ahead of Arcadia's Veronica Yamane.
Lauren Jacob of Los Altos won the 15-16 girls title.
Area Buffalo Babes highlights:
Davis freshman Sofia Castiglioni placed third in the 13-14 division.
Whitney sophomore Jordan Sienkewicz and Bella Vista sophomore Hannah Wohlenberg placed 23rd and 26th, respectively, in the girls 15-16 division.
River Valley senior Leanne Jarvis placed third, Del Oro senior Lizzie Meredtih fifth and Pleasant Grove senior Jerriann Wells 15th in the girls17-18 division.
Team founder and organizer Joe Hartman says the Buffalo Babes have won 21 national team titles since 2002 at the USATF Jr Olympics, the AAU Jr Olympics, and the US Cross Country Championships.
