SoCal powers to play top Sac boys teams in St. Hope tourney

The three Southern California representatives - highlighted by Cal-Hi Sports state ranked No. 5 Centennial of Corona -- won games tonight to advance to Thursday's winner's bracket games in the St. Hope Elite Classic boys basketball tournament at Sacramento High School.

With junior Khalil Ahmad scoring 18 points, Long Beach State-bound senior Deontae North 17 points, national junior recruit Sedrick Barefield 16 points and sophomore Jordan Griffin 14 points, Centennial walloped Bee No. 20 Christian Brothers 88-49.

West Ranch of Valencia topped Foothill of Palo Cedro 84-74 and Eisenhower, shooting well from 3-point range, topped Foothill of Sacramento 76-67.

In Thursday's games, Eisenhower will play Bee No. 1 Capital Christian at 5 p.m.; No. 8 Pleasant Grove will meet Centennial at 6:30 p.m. and West Ranch will play No. 3 Sacramento at 8 p.m.
