After finding out yesterday they'll be without receiver Jacoby Ford for a "significant amount of time" as Ford recovers from foot surgery, it appears there's more bad news for the Raiders on the injury front. ESPN is reporting that starting cornerback Ron Bartell has a broken left shoulder blade and could be back within six weeks if surgery is not needed.
Bartell, whom the Raiders signed as part of their cornerback overhaul after he missed the final 15 games of last season with a neck injury, left their 22-14 loss to the Chargers on Monday night in the first half. He'll likely be replaced by Pat Lee, who took his place against the Chargers and has started one of his 33 career games. Head coach Dennis Allen said his impression of Lee after Monday's game was that "overall he held up OK."
A couple things from practice this morning:
* The Raiders announced they cut receiver Brandon Carswell and signed cornerback Coye Francies to the practice squad. Francies was cut last week when the Raiders signed receiver Derek Hagan.
* Linebacker Rolando McClain and running back Taiwan Jones were on the field this morning but not practicing. Allen hadn't mentioned either coming out of the Chargers game with injury. Jones hardly played in the game, but Allen said that was because he had some early problems securing the ball on a kickoff and reverse.
* Stefen Wisniewski was the first center working with the first-team offense.
