<p>Local and state history buffs will especially enjoy the <a href="http://pinterest.com/castatelibrary/gold-rush/">Gold Rush</a> board containing early photos, paintings, posters, book illustrations and even a gold coin. Included are pictures of Sutter's Mill, Sutter's Fort and several images of miners.</p>
<p>Other historical boards include <a href="http://pinterest.com/castatelibrary/illuminated-manuscripts/">Illuminated Manuscripts</a>, <a href="http://pinterest.com/castatelibrary/california-calls-you-the-art-of-promoting-the-gold/">California promotions</a>, <a href="http://pinterest.com/castatelibrary/postcards-of-california/">Postcards of California</a>, <a href="http://pinterest.com/castatelibrary/california-history/">California History</a> and <a href="http://pinterest.com/castatelibrary/californias-politicians/">California Politicians</a>.</p>

Led by knowledgeable docents in period attire, these special 90-minute excursions explore "some of the dark secrets and racy tales lurking in Sacramento's past."</p>
<p><a href="http://www.historicoldsac.org/programs/programs-underground.asp">Underground tours of Old Sacramento</a> honor the amazing 19th century street-raising effort that protected the town from floods and thus created the excavated foundations and enclosed pathways we have today. Guests should be ready to walk in spaces with uneven surfaces and low ceilings.</p>
