Magic 106, Kings 102
*The Kings can only blame themselves for this loss. They did enough to win the game on most fronts. They outrebounded the Magic 51-36 and probably feel they should have won. But when you commit 21 turnovers (leading to 23 points for Orlando) it's hard to win.
And as Paul Westphal put it: "We committed too many turnovers again."
*The Kings shot just 30.2 percent in the second half (13 of 43). Meanwhile Orlando shot 50 percent (19 of 38) after halftime. Six of those makes were three pointers.
*Orlando outscored the Kings 30-23 in the fourth quarter.
*DeMarcus Cousins set a new season-high with 29 points, 18 free throws attempted and 13 made.
*Marcus Thornton has now scored in double figures in all seven of his games with the Kings after finishing with 22 points tonight. He's scored 20-plus in three of his games at Power Balance Pavilion.
*The Kings inability to stop point guards showed again. Jameer Nelson score 12 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter.
*Cousins sore shin was bad enough that he considered not playing tonight. He said practicing Tuesday might not have been a good idea. Westphal said that practice might have been Cousins' best of the season.
Orlando outlasts Kings
Hedo Turkoglu made a three-pointer with 40 seconds to play to give the Magic a 105-100 lead, and then made a free throw with 2.8 seconds remaining as Orlando beat the Kings 106-102 Wednesday. With Sacramento down three points, Luther Head missed a long-range three-point attempt with four seconds remaining.
Kings 79, Magic 76
*DeMarcus Cousins had one point in the third. That's one more than he had in the second half Monday, but the Kings will probably need more than that to hold off Orlando. It helps that Marcus Thornton his having another solid game with 18 points and four assists.
*Four of five Orlando starters have four fouls. Dwight Howard played most of the quarter with four. He was spared a fifth in part by allowing Brandon Bass to defend Cousins.
*Howard has 13 points and 12 rebounds.
*The Kings maintained the lead even though they shot five for 23 (21.7 percent) in the third quarter. The Kings made 10 of 12 free throws in the third to stay ahead.
HALFTIMEKings 59, Magic 56
*DeMarcus Cousins followed up Monday's 20-point first half with 19 points tonight. It will be interesting to see if the Kings continue to feature him in the offense. Cousins didn't score in the second half Monday.
*Dwight Howard has only four shot attempts but has taken eight free throws. Howard has 11 points and six rebounds. Jason Richards leads the Magic with 14 points. Richardson made a three to cut the deficit to three just before halftime. The Kings haven't been able to lead by more than eight.
*The Kings are shooting 52.5 percent, which has helped them overcome 11 first-half turnovers. If the Kings keep that up, they'll lose this game. They aren't good enough to give a team like Orlando so many easy points.
*Marcus Thornton only had two points after scoring 11 in the first quarter. He's scored in double figures every game he's played for the Kings.
*Omri Casspi played the bulk of the minutes at small forward. He missed five of six shots but did grab six rebounds. Francisco Garcia started and had six points in eight minutes.
Kings 33, Magic 29
*The Kings won at Orlando last month without Marcus Thornton, who was on his way via trade. With Thornton the Kings are off to a good start. Thornton has 11 points and has made four of five from the field.
*Also not a bad start from DeMarcus Cousins, who has eight points. He did pick up a technical four for slapping at the ball after a play. Luther Head was also called for a technical foul.
*Luther Head started at guard for Beno Udrih, who is out with the flu.
*Dwight Howard leads Orlando with 10 pints and five rebounds.
*The Kings shot 62.5 percent, but helped Orlando stay close with five turnovers that led to seven points for the Magic.
