In-game blog: Kings can't keep up with Denver, lose big

FINAL
Nuggets 110, Kings 83

DENVER - The Kings were blown out again by a team missing a key player.

The Nuggets (5-2) had no problem with the Kings (2-5) without their key big man, Nene. The Nuggets shot 60.5 percent and scored 68 points in the paint in a dominant showing.

DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings with 26 points off the bench. Marcus Thornton had 23 points. The Kings shot 32.6 percent.

Al Harrington led the Nuggets with 15 points. Five Nuggets scored in double figures.

THIRD QUARTER
Nuggets 85, Kings 64

DENVER - Not much has changed for the Kings after halftime.

The Nuggets are control of this game and the Kings appear on their way to a 2-5 start.

Tyreke Evans didn't start the third quarter after filling ill at halftime but ended up playing three minutes in the third quarter.

Marcus Thornton (19 points) and DeMarcus Cousins (17 points) lead the Kings. But Sacramento can't overcome its poor shooting (31.3 percent) or the hot shooting of the Nuggets (64.9 percent).

HALFTIME
Nuggets 56, Kings 39

DENVER - It's still a struggle on offense for the Kings. They are shooting 31.8 percent while the Nuggets are shooting 61 percent.

The Nuggets are getting plenty of easy looks. They've scored 38 points in the paint and have 14 points off Kings' turnovers.

Marcus Thornton leads the Kings with 14 points. Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins each have eight points.

Al Harrington came off the bench to lead Denver with 10 points.

FIRST QUARTER
Nuggets 27, Kings 17

DENVER - Once again the Kings have started a game shooting poorly. The Kings are 6-of-23 (26.1 percent) from the field and have trailed by as many as 13 points.

The Nuggets are without injured forward/center Nene, are doing just fine without him. Every starter has scored for Denver.

The Nuggets are getting plenty of easy looks. They already have 20 points in the paint.

Marcus Thornton leads the Kings with eight points.
