In-game blog: Kings vs. Jazz

Kings 103, Jazz 96

DeMarcus Cousins had a game-high 22 points and 18 rebounds and Isaiah Thomas added 18 points and eight assists as the Kings held off the Utah Jazz at Power Balance Pavilion on Tuesday night.

The Kings overcame a slow start and 17 turnovers to shoot 44 percent from the field, above their season average, as they improved to 12-22.

Marcus Thornton added 21 points and Jason Thompson had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Devin Harris had a team-high 18 points for the Jazz, who had six players in double figures. Josh Howard added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Al Jefferson had 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Kings made free throws down the stretch, converting 24 of 29 foul shots. The Jazz struggled from the line, shooting 11-of-22.

Kings 74, Jazz 71

Isaiah Thomas found a cutting Marcus Thornton for a layup with 0.8 seconds remaining, and Thornton hit a free throw to give the Kings a three-point lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Kings shot better from the floor in the third quarter and are now shooting 42 percent for the game. DeMarcus Cousins leads all players with 18 points and 15 rebounds but picked up his fourth foul and went to the bench late in the quarter.

Thornton has 16 points and Tyreke Evans 13 for the Kings. Thomas has nine points and seven assists.

The Jazz are shooting 47 percent. Josh Howard leads Utah with 13 points, while Al Jefferson has 12 points and Gordon Hayward 10. Devin Harris has nine points and seven assists.

The Jazz have hurt themselves at the free-throw line, making just 10-of-20 shots.

Jazz 47, Kings 44

The Kings are still shooting poorly (35.7 percent) but are still in the game. That's been helped by the Jazz missing seven of their 16 free throws and committing eight turnovers.

The Kings haven't taken care of the ball any better. They have nine turnovers and even though they are one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the NBA, have already taken 14 threes (making four).

DeMarcus Cousins leads the Kings with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Marcus Thornton has seven points for the Kings.

The Jazz have gotten nine points and two assists from Devin Harris. Josh Howard has eight points and five rebounds.

Jazz 25, Kings 23

The Kings have started the second half of the season reminding us they struggle to make shots.

The Kings shot 40 percent in the first quarter, including missing 5-of-6 from three-point range, but are still close.

Meanwhile the Jazz shot 52.4 percent.

Both teams committed five turnovers in a back-and-forth quarter. There were seven lead changes and five ties.

DeMarcus Cousins led the kings with eight points and four rebounds. Marcus Thornton added seven points. Josh Howard led the Jazz with eight points.
