In-game blog: Kings vs. Timberwolves

FINAL
Kings 116, Timberwolves 108

Tyreke Evans led the Kings with 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as the Kings ended a three-game losing streak at home.

The bench was key in the win as Jimmer Fredette (19 points) and Terrence Williams (12 points, 12 rebounds, three assists) played well after Marcus Thornton left the game in the first quarter with a bruised left calf.

The Kings (19-34) host Phoenix Tuesday.

Kevin Love led Minnesota (25-30) with 23 points an seven rebounds. Nikola Pekovic had 17 points off the bench.

THIRD QUARTER
Kings 87, Timberwolves 86

The Kings lead is shrinking after they had their worst shooting quarter of the night.

The Kings shot 34.8 percent in the third quarter (8-of-23) while the Timberwolves shot 60 percent after making 12-of-20 shots.

The Kings are shooting 54 percent for the game but the Timberwolves are up to 52.5 percent and still shooting well from beyond the arc. Minnesota has made 10 of its 17 threes (58.8 percent).

Tyreke Evans has 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead the Kings. DeMarcus Cousins has 16 points and eight rebounds. Isaiah Thomas and Jimmer Fredette each have 14 points.

Luke Ridnour has 13 points and six assists for Minnesota but left the game with a sprained right ankle.

Kevin Love has 12 points but only three rebounds for the Timberwolves.

HALFTIME
Kings 65, Timberwolves 58

With Marcus Thornton out for the game, Jimmer Fredette is taking advantage of his chance to play.

Fredette has a team-high 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting. The Kings are shooting 65 percent as a team.

Tyreke Evans has 13 points, four rebounds and four assists for the Kings.

Minnesota is shooting just 48.8 percent, but has made eight three pointers to stay in the game.

Brad Miller has 11 points for the Timberwolves, including three three-pointers. Kevin Love has 10 points for Minnesota.

FIRST QUARTER
Kings 33, Timberwolves 30

The Kings shot 60.9 percent, led by Tyreke Evans (nine points, four rebounds, two assists) and Isaiah Thomas (eight points).

But the scoreboard doesn't reflect the bad news the Kings received during the first quarter.

The Kings will be without starting guard Marcus Thornton for the rest of the game because of a bruised left calf.

Thornton was off to a good start with four points, two rebounds and an assist in eight minutes.

Kevin Love leads Minnesota with 11 points.
