OKLAHOMA CITY - The Kings have not been told by the NBA if center DeMarcus Cousins will be available for tonight's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Cousins was called for his 13th technical foul of the season in Sunday's win at Charlotte. That is an automatic suspension, per league rules in the 66-game season.
The Kings appealed to have the technical foul rescinded.
"We're waiting," said Kings coach Keith Smart. "We haven't heard anything yet. We're still waiting on that to see what happens and we're waiting on the phone call."
The Kings went through their morning shootaround as if Cousins will play.
If Cousins is suspended, he is not allowed in the arena tonight and would likely have to stay at the team hotel and meet the team after the game to fly back to Sacramento.
Smart did not say how he would alter his lineup if Cousins cannot play.
"We only have two bigs so it's obvious one of those two is going to be on the floor," Smart said.
Jason Thompson is already starting. The other big is Chuck Hayes, who as Smart pointed out isn't big when it comes to height (6-foot-6).
Smart also said Marcus Thornton (left quad contusion) would be a game-time decision.
If Thornton and Cousins are out, the Kings would be without their top-2 scorers.
