Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is among 13 players named to the USA Select Team that will train against at will train against the 2012 USA Basketball Men's National Team during its July 6-12 training camp in Las Vegas.
Former Oak Ridge High School, Cal standout and 2011-12 NBA Most Improved Player Ryan Anderson is also on the Select team.
Anderson had a breakout season for the Orlando Magic.
It has been known since the end of the regular season Cousins would be on the Select team. It is the kind of experience that should benefit Cousins as he heads into his third season as he'll be able to compete against the likes of Kobe Bryant, Tyson Chandler, Kevin Durant and LeBron James.
Cousins was able to pick up bits of knowledge seeing these players during the lockout, but competing against them can only help his game and provide ample time to gain more knowledge.
Cousins is always looking for ways to improve so I wouldn't be surprised to see him take something from these players into next season.
The rest of the Cousins' Select teammates are:
DeJuan Blair (San Antonio Spurs); DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors); Derrick Favors (Utah Jazz ); Paul George (Indiana Pacers), Taj Gibson (Chicago Bulls); Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz); Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers); Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs); Jeremy Lin (New York Knicks); Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors); and John Wall (Washington Wizards).
