In-game blog: Kings at Lakers

FINAL
Kings 94, Lakers 82

SAN DIEGO - The Kings (5-2) closed out the preseason by coasting in the second half to a win over the Los Angeles Lakers (0-8) at Valley View Casino Center.

DeMarcus Cousins finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Thomas had 20 points before leaving the game after rolling his ankle in the fourth quarter.

Tyreke Evans had 14 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Dwight Howard had nine points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes for the Lakers (0-8). Steve Nash had six points and three assists in 16 minutes and did not play in the second half.

The Kings scored 28 points off 21 Laker turnovers while committing just seven.

THIRD QUARTER
Kings 74, Lakers 57

SAN DIEGO - The Kings flowed up a dismal second quarter with a solid third quarter to take control of the game.

Isaiah Thomas (17 points), DeMarcus Cousins (16 points, eight rebounds) and Tyreke Evans (14 points, five assists) have led the way.

It's also helps that the Kings have only five turnovers.

The Lakers did not play Steve Nash in the third, opting to go with Steve Blake. Dwight Howard (nine points, eight rebounds) and Pau Gasol (seven points, four rebounds) did play.

HALFTIME
Kings 40, Lakers 39

SAN DIEGO - After internet problems, I'm up and running from the preseason finale.

The Kings haven't been at their best on offense (38.1 percent shooting) and had only 10 points in the second quarter. But the Kings have only four turnovers.

The Lakers shot 39.4 percent in the first half and had 12 turnovers that led to 12 points for the Kings.

DeMarcus Cousins and Jason Thompson each have eight points for the Kings. Dwight Howard has seven points and six rebounds to lead the Lakers.
