CHICAGO - Keith Smart is ready for Wednesday night, or as Smart said after Tuesday's practice at United Center: "I am very excited."
The Kings were lose and having fun after their final full practice before the season opener. Not that you'd expect anything different from such a young team.
So it's up to Smart to take the careful approach.
"We have to do little things first," Smart said. "One game at a time, one quarter at a time. And then doing that, it's going to help us grow as a team."
*The veterans had fun with the lone rookie, Thomas Robinson. It' tradition the rookies are responsible for making sure no trash is left behind.
In Robinson's case, that also meant making sure no basketballs were left behind after they were strategically placed in the stands by his teammates.
Eventually Tyler Honeycutt, was recruited for the basketball hunt.
*The only player not with the team is John Salmons, who still away for personal reasons.
*The deadline to reach an agreement on a contract extension for the 2009 Draft Class is 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Kings have two players (Tyreke Evans, James Johnson) eligible but don't expect either to be extended.
