In-game blog: Kings vs. Jazz

FINAL
Kings 108, Jazz 97

Tyreke Evans sat for most of the fourth quarter Friday night as the Kings blew a 13-point lead against the Jazz. Evans would get no such rest Saturday.

The Kings' guard scored a season-high 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting to lead the Kings to a win over the Jazz at the Sleep Train Arena. They improved to 4-4 at home on the year and 4-9 overall.

The Kings played nearly mistake-free in the second half, committing just two turnovers, and held the Jazz to 40.5 percent shooting overall. Meanwhile the Kings shot 54 percent.

With DeMarcus Cousins ejected from the game in the third quarter, rookie Thomas Robinson played much of the fourth quarter and played well, scoring seven points in the period to finish with nine.

Evans was also 9-of-9 from the free-throw line and has not missed any of his 17 free-throw attempts over the last three games. Jason Thompson finished with 16 points and nine rebounds and Aaron Brooks had 13 points.

Randy Foye scored 17 points and Paul Millsap had 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Jazz, who played without injured point guard Mo Williams and fell to 7-7.

THIRD QUARTER
Kings 83, Jazz 75

For the second night in a row, the Kings are taking a lead into the fourth quarter against the Utah Jazz. They'll be trying not to give this one back -- but they'll have to protect it without center DeMarcus Cousins.

Cousins was ejected late in the quarter -- he drew two quick technical fouls after appearing to slap a ball out of the hands of Jazz center Enes Kanter after the whistle had been blown.

Cousins was having a good game with 14 points and nine rebounds and had thrown down a thunderous dunk a few possessions earlier. Tyreke Evans leads all scorers with 17 points, and Jason Thompson has added 14 points and eight rebounds.

Randy Foye leads the Jazz with 15 points. Al Jefferson has 12 and Paul Millsap has 10.

FIRST QUARTER
Jazz 29, Kings 23

The Kings jumped out to an 8-0 lead against the Jazz, who have struggled to start well this season. But Utah quickly regrouped to take the lead behind Randy Foye.

Foye has 13 points, having already made four three pointers. Foye also has two assists.

Aaron Brooks has seven points to lead the Kings. Tyreke Evans has six points and DeMarcus Cousins has six points and five rebounds.

The Kings are shooting well (10 of 21) but have five turnovers and have been called for six fouls. The Jazz are plus-9 on pints from the three-point line and plus-6 on free throws.
