The Kings lost their third consecutive game Tuesday night. By the end of the game the Kings were down four players and there's no way of knowing if any of those players would have helped against Portland rookie point guard Damian Lillard.
Lillard had game highs of 22 points and nine assists for the Blazers (3-5). LaMarcus Aldridge added 19 points. J.J. Hickson had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
James Johnson had a season-high 16 points for the Kings (2-6). Marcus Thornton had 14 points and Jimmer Fredette had 13 points and a career-high six assists.
Portland was 14 of 27 on three pointers. The Kings were 1 of 11 on threes.
Trail Blazers 74, Kings 58
The Kings 54-50 with 7:22 left in the third quarter and then ... it was all bad.
The Blazers closed the quarter on a 24-4 run. All five starters for the Blazers have scored in double figures, led by Damian Lillard with 22 points and nine assists.
The Kings started Tyreke Evans at point guard after halftime because Aaron Brooks (sore left ankle) is out. Marcus Thornton played shooting guard.
Jimmer Fredette played only three minutes in the third after his hot start.
Thornton has 14 points to lead the Kings.

The Kings might be down some players but the Kings left with the bench are making up the difference.
Jimmer Fredette (10 points, four assists), Marcus Thornton (eight points) and Thomas Robinson (eight points) have been key in keeping the Kings close.
Aaron Brooks left the game with a sore left ankle, leaving Fredette with plenty of time to play.
Fredette has already played 14 mintues.

The Kings fell behind 25-10 before closing the quarter on an 8-0 run and stay within reach of the Trail Blazers.
