CHICAGO - This is the Tyreke Evans the Kings would love to sign to a long-term contract.
Evans had 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot in Wednesday's 93-87 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.
Evans had to chase around Richard Hamilton on defense and for most of the night was the Kings' best player on offense.
"We're asking this young man to do a lot and I thought overall that effort he gave there was really, really good," said Kings coach Keith Smart.
After a preseason in which Evans seemed reluctant to take over games, Evan looked as comfortable as he's looked in some time.
If Evans keeps this up, he'll get the contract he wants at the end of the season.
*As expected, Marcus Thornton is still a big part of the Kings' plans. Only Evans (39:05) played more minutes for the Kings than Thornton (31:48).
*DeMarcus Cousins shot well (7 of 14) and had seven rebounds in 25 minutes. But he can't get in foul trouble like he did against the Bulls. He also can't lead the team in turnovers (seven).
