Smart says Cousins reinstated, will play 'at some point'

The Kings have reinstated DeMarcus Cousins after indefinitely suspending the third-year center on Saturday.

"He's been reinstated, yes," said Kings coach Keith Smart. "That doesn't mean he's playing right away."

Cousins practiced Monday morning and declined to speak with reporters afterward.

Cousins was suspended for a verbal altercation with Smart at halftime of Friday's loss at the Los Angeles Clippers.

Smart said the suspension essentially began Friday night when Cousins was told to stay in the locker room after halftime against the Clippers.

Smart said Cousins apologized to him and his teammates for his actions.

"Obviously he's going to come back to the team at some point so you've got to get his mind moving in that direction and get everybody else to understand he's going to come back," Smart said.

The Kings play Wednesday at Portland.

*Francisco Garcia (sore lower back) returned to practice Monday. Tyreke Evans did some light work but will not play Wednesday.
