In-game blog: Kings at Nets

FINAL
Nets 113, Kings 93

BROOKLYN - The Kings finally played a team with a winning record on this four-game road trip and the result was a blowout for the Brooklyn Nets.

The Kings finished the trip 2-2, which isn't bad considering the Kings were 1-12 on the road to start the trip.

But losing in such fashion isn't how the Kings (13-21) wanted to travel back to California. But the Kings couldn't overcome a bad second quarter and rally Saturday.

DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings with 28 points and 11 rebounds, his third 20-10 game in his last four and sixth consecutive double-double.

Six Nets scored in double figures led by Brook Lopez with 18 points in just 17 minutes. Deron Williams finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 27 minutes.

Brooklyn (19-15) had three reserves score in double figures.

The Nets shot 51.8 percent while the Kings shot 40 percent.

THIRD QUARTER
Nets 88, Kings 72

BROOKLYN - The Nets are shooting only 54 percent after their extremely hot start, but the Kings haven't been able to do enough to overcome falling behind by as many as 23 points.

*The Nets are dominating the Kings on the glass with a 39-25 rebounding advantage. The Nets have 22 second-chance points.

*DeMarcus Cousins has 22 points and nine rebounds for the Kings. Nets center Brook Lopez has 18 points for the Nets. Reggie Evans has 12 rebounds for Brooklyn.

HALFTIME
Nets 65, Kings 47

BROOKLYN - The Nets shot 67.5 percent, the highest an opponent has shot in a half against the Kings this season. And the Kings couldn't maintain their good shooting from the first quarter when their reserves were outplayed by the Nets' bench in the second quarter.

*The Kings scored 16 points in the quarter. The Nets had 21 points from their reserves in scoring 29 points.

*Kings' reserves shot 2 of 12 in the quarter. Both makes were by Aaron Brooks. Chuck Hayes got up three shots while Jimmer Fredette and James Johnson each took two shots.

*MarShon Brooks scored 10 points off the bench for Brooklyn in the first half. Reserve Mizra Teletovic added nine points.

*John Salmons still has 13 points after going scoreless in the second quarter. Jason Thompson has 12 points while DeMarcus Cousins has 10 points.

FIRST QUARTER
Nets 36, Kings 31

BROOKLYN - The Kings shot 59.1 percent, which on most nights would be a great start. But that shooting performance doesn't look impressive when the opponent shoots 71.4 percent.

The Nets shot 15-for-21 and were led by Brook Lopez with eight points. Deron Williams and Joe Johnson each had seven points. Williams also had four assists.

*John Salmons was aggressive for the Kings and has 13 points. He missed one of his six shots.

*There weren't many missed shots, but the Kings can't be happy with only three rebounds.

*The Nets have 24 points in the paint, a big reason why they are shooting so well.
