In-game blog: Kings vs. Clippers

FINAL
Kings 116, Clippers 101

After trailing by eight early in the fourth quarter, the Kings (24-44) got going on offense the Clippers couldn't keep up.

Marcus Thornton led the way with 23 points off the bench. DeMarcus Cousins had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Tyreke Evans had 17 points.

Toney Douglas was a big boost off the bench with 19 points, 17 coming in the fourth quarter.

Blake Griffin led the Clippers (46-22) with 26 points. Chris Paul had 11 points and 15 assists, but shot just 2 of 10.

Jamal Crawford added 25 points off the bench for Los Angeles.

THIRD QUARTER
Clippers 83, Kings 78

There were more fouls called (19) than made shots between both teams in the third quarter.

The Kings were just 4 of 16 from the field but made 14 of 17 free throws.

The Clippers took the lead behind Blake Griffin, who scored eight of his 20 points in the third.

DeMarcus Cousins has 17 points, but has played only 18 minutes because he has four fouls.

Jason Thompson had to leave the game to get stitches above his right eye after a collision with Clippers center DeAndre Jordan.

HALFTIME
Kings 56, Clippers 54

The pace picked up in the second quarter, but the Kings held their own to take a slim halftime lead.

Marcus Thornton had 14 points in the first half, all coming in the second quarter. Thornton made four three pointers.

Toney Douglas came in and had five assists as the second unit kept the Kings going. Patrick Patterson added seven points off the bench.

DeMarcus Cousins added 12 points for Sacramento.

Jamal Crawford led the Clippers with 14 points. Blake Griffin has 12 points. Chris Paul has five points and nine assists.

The Clippers lost Chauncey Billups for the game with a right groin strain.

FIRST QUARTER
Kings 23, Clippers 23

DeMarcus Cousins returned to the lineup from a quad injury and contributed eight points and four rebounds in eight minutes.

Cousins missed the previous two games with the injury.

Isaiah Thomas added five points and two assists for the Kings.

Blake Griffin has eight points, four rebounds and two assists for the Clippers. Chris Paul already has five assists for Los Angeles.

The game was played at a pace the Kings have to like. The Clippers managed just four fast break points and did not allow the Clippers to get into transition with turnovers.

The Kings had only two turnovers in the quarter and gave up no points off them.
