SAN ANTONIO - The Kings are negotiating a buyout with guard Aaron Brooks.
Once a starter, Brooks' playing time has dwindled in recent weeks in favor of Jimmer Fredette.
In his first 35 games of the season, Brooks averaged 23.6 minutes per game averaging 9.1 points and 2.7 assists. In his past 11 appearances, he's averaged 12.1 minutes, 4.3 points and 1.1 assists.
In 46 games played with the Kings this season, Brooks averaged 24.4 points per game with 8.0 points and 2.3 assists. He did not play in five of the Kings' past six games.
The recently acquired Toney Douglas added to the glut at point guard behind Isaiah Thomas.
The Kings coveted Brooks for some time and signed him to a two-year, $6.6 million free-agent contract last summer.
Brooks, 28, played in China last season.
