Add "The Jet" to the mix for a new voice in the Kings front office.
Former King and current TNT analyst Kenny "The Jet" Smith told USA Today at the NBA Finals he has spoken with new majority owner Vivek Ranadive about a role with the franchise.
"We've been talking; we've been talking," Smith said. "That's all I'm going to say."
Smith added in the interview that he is also interested in coaching.
Smith was drafted sixth overall out of North Carolina by the Kings in 1987. He's best known for his time in Houston, where he won two NBA Championships (1994, 1995)
Many of today's young players know Smith best for his work on TNT, where he is part of what is widely seen as the best collection of analysts around.
Smith is joined by Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal and host Ernie Johnson.
Smith has not been an executive or coach in the NBA, but Mark Jackson went from announcing to coaching Golden State with success. Perhaps Smith can do the same.
