LAS VEGAS - Here are some leftover quotes from my phone interview with new Kings point guard Grevis Vasquez earlier today.
On having an opportunity to play after the Hornets agreed to acquire Jrue Holiday:
"That's the only thing I was hoping for. God came through and put me in the best situation possible."
On why Sacramento is a good situation:
"The team is going to stay in Sacramento which is extremely important for fans. The new owners are unbelievably smart. We're going to have a new arena in a few years. I just feel it's a perfect situation for everybody."
On his new teammates:
"I know most of them. I know DeMarcus (Cousins) pretty good. We've worked out and played against each other for a long time. I know Marcus (Thornton), Isaiah (Thomas). I think we have a good group of guys. Now we've got to change the culture. It's not about us (as individuals), it's about winning."
What he adds:
"I'm just bringing my energy and the love I have for the game, a leader off the court and in the locker room."
On how he saw leadership in his rookie season with Memphis and reaching the playoffs:
"I remember how Tony Allen was important for that locker room, Zach (Randolph), Rudy Gay, Marc Gasol."
"I want to get that feeling back. It's been two years since I've been to the playoffs."
