LAS VEGAS - Scotty Stirling, who was among Kings personnel officials who lost a job in the ownership change, is here at the Summer League, looking for work and enjoying one of his favorite events. Stirling, who lived in the Bay Area throughout his tenure under Geoff Petrie, says he has spoken with several teams about doing advance and college scouting and believes he has a verbal agreement with at least one East Coast team. "I love coming here for this," said Stirling. "This is where it (NBA careers) starts."
Another longtime Kings executive who was laid off last October by the Maloorfs - security director Jack Peirson - has been working security for the league throughout the tournament and expects to stay through next week's Team USA training camp. Peirson, who worked for the Lakers at the Forum and Staples Center before coming to Sacramento, is pursuing fulltime opportunities in three cities.
Peirson, in particular, was a familiar figure at Sleep Train Arena.
