New coach, ownership lead Carl Landry back to Sacramento

Carl Landry returns to the Kings on a four-year deal worth $26 million.

Landry is already familiar with the new Kings leadership. Landry played for coach Michael Malone when he was an assistant in New Orleans and last season in Golden State.

That's also how Landry is familiar with new majority owner Vivek Ranadive. There is no talk of relocation or uncertainty in leadership this time around.

"I'm excited to be the first player in this new era to sign," Landry said. "It's already different. You can tell."

Landry averaged 10.8 points and six rebounds in 81 games (two starts) last season with the Warriors.

Landry averaged 18 points in his first 28 games (all starts) in Sacramento after being traded to the Kings from Houston in 2010 as part of the Kevin Martin trade.

Landry played in 53 games (16 starts) the following season before being traded to New Orleans for Marcus Thornton. Landry was averaging 11.9 points at the time of the deal.

The presence of Malone and Ranadive made committing to the Kings easier.

"The talent is here on this team," Landry said. "We just have to find a way to put it together. And Coach Malone is one of the better coaches in the league."

Landry is a power forward, joining Jason Thompson and Patrick Patterson. Chuck Hayes is also in the rotation of big men.

The Kings are still looking for another small forward.
