Even before the California International Marathon starts Sunday at 7 a.m. near Folsom Dam, Bee photographer Paul Kitagaki will be transmitting photos to sacbee.com. When the 26.2-mile race officially begins, Paul will capture the expected 7,000 runners' first steps toward the state Capitol and follow along, transmitting photos of runners and spectators along the race course.
Near the finish line for the 27th annual CIM, Bee photographer Renee Byer will take photos of the winners and of the festivities on Capitol Mall. Free-lance photographer Steve Yeater will be near the finish shooting runners as they complete the marathon. Bee assistant multimedia editor Tim Reese will post more than 1,000 photos of runners finishing in a gallery we're calling Faces at the Finish. Tim will set up the gallery in four sections so users may look for runners The Bee photographed based on finishing times of under three hours, under four hours, under five hours and under six hours. The gallery will be similar to one we did on Thanksgiving for The Run to Feed the Hungry. Click here to see the Run to Feed the Hungry photo gallery.
On the home page of sacbee on Sunday we will have links to several photo galleries, including one where you can submit your own photos from the marathon. In the meantime, to find the latest information on the race and preparing for the CIM, check out sacbee.com/run.
