July 26, 2010 iPhone app released

We are very pleased to announce that The Sacramento Bee iPhone application has been released and can be downloaded to your iPhone, iPod or iPad by clicking on this link.

For our debut iPhone app, we're offering a comprehensive news reader, providing easy access to all of our latest stories, organized by topic and section. In addition to news stories, blog posts and columnists, the app also features an engaging way to view our photography, including Day in Pictures, local pictures, and sports. Other features include local movie times and weather, as well as an easy way to submit news tips, photos and videos to us in a single click.

Our plan is to release the same app for Blackberry and Android devices in the near future and then begin looking at the types of niche apps that could be of interest to our readers. So this is a first step into mobile apps for us, with a promise of more to come.
