New SEIU lawsuit covers more 'special fund' state workers

100602 yolo county gavel.jpgService Employees International Union Local 1000 has filed a furlough lawsuit in Alameda County Superior Court to cover state government bodies that weren't named in an earlier complaint that successfully challenged furloughing employees in "special fund" departments.

The Department of Personnel Administration was served with the complaint on Tuesday. The union filed it on May 21.

Local 1000 had tried to convince Judge Frank Roesch to include a number of departments to those named in a case on which he ruled earlier. The judge refused the request on May 18 because it wasn't timely.

Here's a list of the departments, commissions named in the new lawsuit:

  1. The Public Utilities Commission
  2. The California Energy Commission
  3. The San Diego River Conservancy
  4. The Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy
  5. The Sierra Nevada Conservancy
  6. The Energy Resources Conservation and Development Commission
  7. The Office of Traffic Safety
  8. The Commission on Aging
  9. The Department of Alcohol and Drugs Programs
  10. The Department of Pesticide Enforcement Regulation
  11. The California Senior Legislature Administration/ California Fund for Senior Citizens, Personal Services
  12. The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training
  13. The Office of Statewide Health and Planning
  14. The Department of Military
  15. The Department of Food and Agriculture
  16. The Department of Food and Agriculture, Division of Plant Health and Pest Prevention Services - Nursery, Seed, and Quality Cotton Program
  17. The Department of Fairs and Exposition Del Mar Fair Grounds
  18. The Department of Child Support Services
  19. The Department of Veteran's Affairs
  20. The Department of Farm and Home Purchasers Division
  21. The Student Aid Commission
  22. The California Emergency Management Agency
  23. The California Health and Human Services
  24. The Department of Mental Health (including but not limited to, the Mental Health Planning Council, the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration)
