CalPERS members have until Thursday to return their ballots for the the fund's Board of Administration special election. Eight candidates are vying for the seat vacated when Kurato Shimada resigned last year. If no one receives a majority of votes, CalPERS will hold a runoff election between the two candidates with the most support.

Friday is the last day that SEIU Local 1000 members can turn in their ballots for the union's officer election. Counting will start on Saturday, 9 a.m., at 1321 Howe Ave., Suite 200 in Sacramento.
