We goofed.
Our story in today's Bee incorrectly states that contract amendments that affect employees in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation allow for senior staff under a layoff threat to bump their juniors out of positions around the state. The story should have said that the transfer deals give seniority preference for bidding on vacant positions statewide.

* We'll be posting reminders every so often for the next few weeks that you can view a 28-minute video of last week's CalPERS candidates forum until the Oct. 2 ballot deadline. We'll try to keep the reference as unobtrusive as possible, but we think it's valuable to see what J.J. Jelincic, Inderjit Singh Kallirai and Muriel Strand said about the fund and its role in providing California public employee benefits.
Candidates Cathy Hackett, Kurato Shimada, Dan T. Villella and Dennis Yates did not participate.

* Several The State Worker users noted that we failed to mention in this Tuesday post that CASE, the state legal professionals union, has submitted a grievance on behalf of Bargaining Unit 2 members over the Legislature's elimination of Lincoln's Birthday and Columbus Day from the paid state holiday calendar.
