Juliet Huddy swears she used to never, ever wear dresses. I mean it. Juliet, co-anchor of "The Morning Show With Mike and Juliet" (weekdays at 11 a.m. on Channel 3), used to be such a newshound kind of gal. You know the type. She wore skirts and jackets - that's it.
"The more staid personna," Juliet recalls over the phone while walking in New York. "But then I decided to get funky and cutesy. First it was a Burberry skirt. Then the show's wardrobe woman got me a Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress (shown above), and I loved it!"
(And, this season, dresses are HOT. Check out my story in today's Scene.)
Juliet, whose TV career has taken her from Missouri to California (Ventura) to Florida and now to New York, says, initially, her wardrobe was basically "brown and black."
"With this show (which debuted Jan. 22), America didn't know who I was," she says. "The executives (read: TV powers-that-be) didn't want me coming off as a single girl on the prowl, so it was tough figuring out my style. At home, I'm just a flip-flops and jeans girl."
But, once spring sprung in the Big Apple, Juliet says she started thinking about wearing colors she hadn't worn before. Pink, orange, green.
"Bright colors look great on TV, and I'm actually enjoying it," she says. "Now, wrap dresses are my savior. I get a lot of compliments from the audience, especially with all the patterns and prints.
"I've definitely funked up my wardrobe a little bit."
