Thanks, loyal 21Q visitors! I asked for advice and you gave it to me!
Last Wednesday, I had posted a request for ways to remain stylishly dressed while still being able to take long walks during work breaks.
The Bee's new walking program provided incentive for me to get off my backside and pound some pavement, but I couldn't see my athletic shoes worn with a pretty sundress - and socks! I know lots of you work and walk in Sacramento, so I asked how you managed to look fashionable and get your heart racing at the same time.
One reader suggested I bring a small gym bag with shorts and a top to change into, which our TV columnist, Rick Kushman, does on a regular basis. (I've never seen him run in jeans.) I'm thinking, though, that instead of shorts, I might grab one of those skirts with the panty included. Add a simple tee, and I'm good to put one foot in front of the other.
Another suggestion was from a reader who, like me, gets bouts of plantar fasciitis. She found walking in Dansko shoes (shown above) to be a blessing to her dawgs. And hey, great idea. Not only do I already own, like, five pairs, but I forgot how comfortable they are to walk in. Not exactly stiletto styling, but cute anyway. I'm definitely going to try these on super-casual dress days. And have you noticed? More and more folks in the medical field - doctors, nurses, etc. -are wearing Danskos.
I'm sold!
