Cosmetic companies are just about as patriotic as the rest of us. That's why it's not unusual to see Fourth of July promotions as a kick-off to summer.
Estee Lauder's offering is called "America, It's Your Choice." The gift with purchase, which started Wednesday, runs while supplies last at Macy's. Spend $29.50 and here's what you get: Your choice of lipstick shade from four colors, Bronze Goddess soft matte bronzer, a More Than Mascara and eye pencil, DayWear Plus multi-protection cream and a blush brush. Everything comes tucked inside a cute red, white and blue striped tote with a matching red cosmetic bag.
The tote alone is worth a trip to the counter.
Now, the trick is in finding $29.50 worth of fun stuff you can pair with what's in the gift. Actually, I have a couple of recommendations. Since you're getting a good mix of makeup in the gift, why not opt for a great sunscreen and self-tanner or something from Lauder's wonderful Azurée Soleil collection, which was created by designer Tom Ford? The body tint is wonderful and smells heavenly. It's a dollar short of the required amount ($28.50), but you could throw in a lip liner or the Clear Difference Advanced Oil-Control Hydrator if you're someone whose skin tends to get oiler in the summer.
