Well, what do you think of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's choice of shoes during a recent appearance (pictured above) to discuss his views on health care?
Of course, he's wearing his guv-gray suit, dress shirt, pink tie and multiple rings.
But, I don't know about those shoes. They look to be a cross between oxfords and a pair of Doc Martens. Now, if the governor is willing to put his feet, uh, shoes, on the line publicly, I think I have the responsibility to comment on them. And my opinion is...I don't like them with this suit!
They're not quite dressy enough, especially the light-colored shoelaces and the odd soles.
OK, so maybe I have no soul. Anyway, my Capitol Bureau colleague, Kevin Yamamura, hangs out with Arnold all the time and is hip to the governor's sense of style. And Kevin tells me that the governor's press secretary, who keeps tabs on his shoes and suits, says Arnold has been wearing this style of shoe for a long time (and that he wears dress shoes, rather than boots, more than half the time he's in the office.)
OK. I'll take my mule out of my mouth and say the governor of the great state of California can wear flip flops in the hallowed halls of the Capitol if he so chooses.
Let's just hope he doesn't.
