The grand opening is still more than a week away, but gardeners can get a sneak peek now of Folsom's new Green Acres Nursery & Supply.
Located at 205 Serpa Way in the former Circuit City building, the new nursery opened its doors to the public late Thursday in a "soft" opening.
"As soon as the fire marshal gave us the OK, we opened for business," said Green Acres spokeswoman Kellie Natoli. "We actually started letting customers in at 2 p.m. Thursday."
More plants and signs are still arriving to the three-acre nursery. Landscaping supplies, pottery and outdoor living products fill the 30,000-square-foot showroom. Another 38,500 square feet of shade area and greenhouse will showcase thousands of live plants.
"We put up a sign: 'We're not in full bloom yet, please be patient,' " Natoli noted. "We still have more signs going up and other finishing touches."
The nursery will formally open Feb. 29 with a Folsom chamber of commerce event and a barbecue for contractors. Starting March 1, Green Acres will kick off its grand opening doorbuster sale with 50 percent off seeds and 33 percent off pottery as well as other specials.
Hours will be 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call (916) 358-9099 or click on www.idiggreenacres.com.
